HAROLD WOOD
Harold L. Wood, age 83, of Ewing, Missouri, passed away Friday October 19, 2018 in the Lewis County Nursing Home at Canton, Missouri.
He was born August 12, 1935 at Lewistown, Missouri, a son of Edgar L. and Ethel Edith Stevens Wood.
Harold was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Ewing where he served as a long-time board member and Deacon. Harold owned and operated Harold Wood Trucking for over 50 years.
Harold was an avid bird hunter and especially enjoyed with his friends and family.
Harold was united in marriage to Virgie Lavan Sharpe on May 14, 1953 until her death on October 11, 1994. Harold was united in marriage to Mildred Louise Kilbride Sharpe on January 20, 1996. She survives.
He is survived by his wife Mildred Wood of LaBelle; four daughters, Kathy Corbin of Kirksville, Missouri, Violet (Michael) Hoffer of Ewing, Emma Sparks of Lewistown and Lynn Wood of Ewing; five step children, Hubert (Phillis) Sharpe of La Belle, Lee (Karol) Sharpe of Lewistown, Rebecca Sharpe-Whitaker of Ewing, Karen (Chuck) Yancy of Luray, Missouri and Ray (Dana) Sharpe of Lewistown; 20 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Virgie, three brothers Lee, Robert and Jerry Wood, one great grandson Chase Matthew and one son in law John Sparks.
In Harold’s life he surrounded himself with family and an abundance of friends. Harold, Mildred and family also enjoyed hosting an annual Sharpe-Wood 4th of July celebration at their home in La Belle for 57 years.
Harold Wood is loved by many as he was a true, honest, caring and loving man. He had a strong Christian faith and a fierce love for all. Harold was one of the finest examples of humanity that this world was blessed to have had. Our son, brother, husband, father, grandpa/PaPa has made his way home to see his Savior.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Ewing.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22. 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Ewing, Missouri with Rev. Elmer Hagood and Rev. Gerald Fielder officiating and Congregational Hymns sung.
Burial will be in Lewistown Cemetery, Lewistown, Missouri.
Pallbearers will be: Christopher Johnston, Johnny Sparks, Jeremiah Goings, Nathan Sparks, Justin Hudson and Josh Hudson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: John Jett, Austin Sharpe, Zach Sharpe, Trevor Sharpe, Colten Sharpe, Hunter Yancy, Kasey Beaty, Tanya Sizemore, Michaellett Brumbaugh, Candi Hudson, Brooke Corbin, April Corbin, Donna Sue Sharpe, Jessica Howard
The family suggests memorials be made to the First Assembly of God Church in Ewing.
