John Michael Tarpein
John Michael Tarpein, age 66, of Baring, MO passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019, in St. Louis, MO. He was born September 24, 1952, in Quincy, IL, the son of Benjamin Henry and Mabel Irene Miner Tarpein. John was united in marriage to Terese Kay Snelling on December 2, 1989, in Edina, MO. Surviving are his wife Terese Kay Tarpein of Baring, MO, his children, Rachel (Brandon) Hanquist of Hurdland, MO and Ashley Tarpein and fiancée (Travis Belt) of Baring, MO, his fur baby boy Jacob, two grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Hanquist, seven brothers and sisters, Jeannie (Charlie) Houghton of Edina, MO, Dan (Peggy) Tarpein of St. Joseph, MO, Judy (Jim) Roberts of Great Lakes, IL, Lynn (Kevin) Jones of Woodland, MO, David (Kristy) Tarpein of Wyaconda, MO, Eric (Shannon) Tarpein of Perry, MO, and Brian (Heather) Tarpein of Kirksville, MO, a brother-in-law Kenneth Williams of Monticello, MO, and numerous other brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Wanda Rose Williams.
John graduated from Knox County High School in 1970. In his earlier years he was employed at Kelly Lime & Rock, Marble’s Ready Mix and IGA in Edina, MO. John worked for MFA Oil in Columbia, MO for 24 years and for the last 9 years was employed with Midland Oil Company of Jefferson City, MO. John was competitive in all he did. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, throwing tomahawks and singing karaoke. But his favorite thing was traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, February, 2, 2019, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Officiating the services will be Reverend Graig Connell.
Visitation will be held all 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
