Officer Rooster

As many of you know, the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office was approved for a grant that covered the purchase and training of our K9 Rooster and training for Deputy Probst. Having a K9 on staff has brought a vital tool to this office to combat illegal drugs. K9 Rooster and Deputy Probst are consistently training to be very good at what they do. Just over the last month or so, K9 Rooster has been proving his worth! He has 3 positive searches where illegal drugs have been found. Of the 3 positive searches, 2 were open air searches of vehicles on traffic stops. The other was a search in a grassy ditch area where a suspect was believed to be hiding something. Deputies searched but were unable to find anything. K9 Rooster was called in and found the item containing methamphetamine within minutes. K9 Rooster has also been asked to search for suspects that have fled from law enforcement in Schuyler County and an adjoining county with positive results. We are pleased with the progress of K9 Rooster and Deputy Probst and we will continue to utilize K9 Rooster to aggressively combat illegal drugs.
