Clark County Middle School Pantry Provides Resources for Students

 By Emily Bontrager

Last year, the Clark County Middle School started a School Pantry Program to help provide items to students and their families.

The School Pantry is filled with non-perishable food items, clothing, hygiene products, shoes, bags, and much more.

The non-perishable food in the pantry is provided by the Food Bank of Northeast Missouri. The other items are donated by the public.

These resources are free to any middle school student and their families and there are no eligibility requirements to access the pantry.

The pantry was started by Mrs. Boyd, who is the Clark County Middle School Counselor. Mrs. Boyd is excited to have the School Pantry open again this year and hopes students and their families come shop at the pantry.

“I think a lot of people don’t realize some of the resources that we have. To have this here, it makes the resources more accessible to people,” Mrs. Boyd said.

This year, Mrs. Boyd has a goal to help provide more food selections for the students and their families.

“This year I am going to work on getting us a freezer, so they do have frozen and fresh options as well,” Mrs. Boyd said.

Parents and middle school students can access the pantry by setting up an appointment time with Mrs. Boyd.

Donations of pants, shirts, hygiene products, shoes, gloves, hats, coats, and other items besides food, are welcomed from the public.

“Our community is amazing. I have people donate a lot and the more people who are finding out, they will say, ‘Hey, do you need this, or do you need that?’ I never deny anyone who wants to donate stuff,” Mrs. Boyd said.
