 By Echo Menges

The last day to register to vote in the November 5, 2024 Presidential Election, which will include U.S., state and local races, and on proposed constitutional amendments – is next week on October 9.

“We are open until 5:00 p.m. on October 9, if anyone wants to register on the last day,” said Marlene Spory, Knox County Clerk.

Knox County residents have to present a valid government identification, be a resident of Knox County, be age 18 or over to register to vote in the upcoming election.

Ballots will be printed in the newspaper for two weeks ahead of the election.

Absentee voting opened on Tuesday, Sept. 24 and will close the day before Election Day on November 4. Absentee ballots can be obtained at the County Clerk’s Office at the Knox County Courthouse in Edina. An absentee sample ballot is available to view online, on the Knox County website knoxcountymo.org.

No excuse absentee voting opens on October 22 and will close on November 4 at the County Clerk’s office. No excuse voting is essentially submitting an absentee ballot without being required to verify a reason why.

The Knox County Clerk’s Office is open from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays excluding holidays.

The office will be open longer on the last day to register and the last day to vote by absentee and no excuse absentee ballot 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

As an added opportunity for absentee voters and no excuse absentee voters to cast their ballots, the Knox County Clerk’s Office will be open on Saturday, November 2, from 8 a.m. to noon.
