Edina Postmaster Chris Harrison Retires
Edina, Mo. – After nearly 39 years of service to local United States Postal Service offices, customers, and residents, Edina Postmaster Chris Harrison is retiring.
Harrison, a well-known USPS staffer, spent his last day on the job at the Edina Post Office on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025. His official retirement date from USPS is expected to be this summer. Until then, he will be on leave.
The Edina postmaster spent his career climbing the USPS ranks locally and has spent decades leading postal teams across the region.
In 1986, Harrison began his career with USPS as a city carrier in Edina. In 2004, he was promoted to officer in charge (OIC) at the Novelty Post Office. OIC is a temporary postmaster position.
The following year, in 2005, Harrison was named postmaster of the Gorin Post Office, his first full-fledged leadership role at USPS.
In 2006, he was named OIC of the New Cambria Post Office before accepting the title of postmaster at the Knox City Post Office, where he remained for five years before becoming OIC at the LaGrange and Lewistown post offices.
In 2016, Harrison became postmaster at the Canton Post Office before being named OIC at the Kirksville Post Office in about 2017.
In 2021, Harrison became postmaster at the Edina Post Office, where he has remained since.
Harrison told The Edina Sentinel that his favorite aspect of the job is taking care of his post office family, including his co-workers and customers.
“When I was on the route, I saw everyone on the route as my family. When I went home, I took care of my own family,” Harrison said. “I like taking care of my family.”
In retirement, Harrison expects to stay busy. He plans to spend more time with his family, help his neighbors, and work occasionally.
Harrison is confident the Edina Post Office will continue to provide excellent service to customers in his absence.
“They won’t miss a beat. They will be fine. Our customers are in good hands,” he said.
Harrison lives in rural Knox County with his wife, Deb. The couple have three grown children, Travis, Zachary, and Nicole, and two grandchildren, Travis Will and Katlyn.
