MILAN, Mo. — The Sullivan County Commission has appointed Ashley Hoselton as interim public administrator following the retirement of Joan Brummitt, who previously held the position and was arrested last year on allegations of financial misconduct.
Hoselton was sworn in during a brief ceremony at the Sullivan County Courthouse. She will serve in the role until the Missouri governor decides whether to appoint a replacement or include the office in an upcoming election.
Brummitt’s departure follows her 2025 arrest on felony charges accusing her of stealing from a person under her care while serving as public administrator. She has pleaded not guilty.
The public administrator oversees the affairs of county residents who are unable to care for themselves or manage their own finances, including individuals with disabilities, mental illness or advanced age.
