Gardner Musing

Today is pretty nice out but very windy. The local fire departments all around have been busy with grass and structured fires this week . Its a good sign that things are pretty dried out.

We just received word that our Cruise Ship Visits will be starting in June and running thru October.

I ran across a folder of newspaper clippings that are from the Hannibal Courier Post. In it was a series of articles written by B.B. Watson two of the articles that I am going to share with you were written and or published on April 1 and the 8th ,1955.
The articles are titled Uncle Bud’s Hobby Shop.

” The farmer had just installed an electric washer, and dryer and mangled it to the basement of his home, to aid his wife in the weekly laundry task.

Thinking his wife would be highly appreciative of his thoughtfulness, he called her from the kitchen , to see the completed installation.

“Well , my dear, what do you think of it?” he asked.

Calmly, she looked it over piece by piece.

“Who are you going to hire to run it?” she asked.

The next one is called “The Urn”.

An empty vessel stood upon the golden sand . Fresh, clean, and with the Potters mark imprinted on its base. The Potter chuckled, Wiping off his clay-stained hands. “Smooth, true, that vessel’s worthy of the owners pride and care”.

A merchant bought it , took it to a distant land. There, soon, he sold it to a man who took it to his home.
In time the Potter visited the distant land. While there, he chanced upon the urn. “Twas stained , and chipped, and scarred.
The Potter bought it –took it to his former home, scoured, scrubbed, and cleaned the cherished urn and placed it on his shelf.
An empty vessel… Still, it was his handwork, scarred, chipped it bore the Potters mark, Imprinted on its base.

Everyone have a good week.
