Alice Anne Gosney, 96, of the Emerson Community, passed away at 3:50 AM, Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, MO.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO. Pastor Dewayne Larenson will officiate. Burial will follow at Dover Cemetery in rural La Grange, MO.
Friends and Family are invited to Alice Anne’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO.

Alice Anne was born July 18, 1929, in La Grange, MO to Rev. E. H. Dunsing and Martha Mary “Mae” McKinney Dunsing. She was married to Arnold William Gosney on October 11, 1947, in Rural Ewing, MO. He preceded her in death September 8, 2003.
Survivors include her son, Dale (Susie) Gosney of Palmyra, MO, sisters, Eunice Dunsing of Quincy, IL, Darlene Clemens of Quincy, IL, sister-in-law, Mae Dunsing of Sitka, AK, son-in-law, Bob Wyatt of Canton, MO, grandchildren, Erin (Brad) Emory, Kale (Jae) Gosney, Daniel (Lauren) Wyatt, Elizabeth (Sabry) Gomma, Mary Anne Inman, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Alice Anne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Carol Anne Wyatt, siblings, Glenn Dunsing, Donnie Dunsing, Delbert “Duke” Dunsing, Lawrence Dunsing,
Ruth Dunsing, Irene Dunsing, brothers-in-law, Chuck Clemens, Garland Martin, Robert Gosney, sister-in-law, Pearl Martin.
Alice Anne was best known for her years as a devoted schoolteacher and homemaker, roles she embraced with warmth, patience, and unwavering care. Over the course of her life, she also contributed her talents to Caterpillar, State Street Store, Blessing
Hospital, and Gem City Business College.
In 1952, Alice Anne and her husband moved to the Emerson Community, where they built a life centered on farming and raising their family. She carried with her vivid memories of The Great Depression, often sharing stories that reflected both the hardships and resilience of that time.
Alice Anne found joy in life’s simple pleasures—collecting tea leaf stoneware
and costume jewelry, preparing meals that brought loved ones together, and celebrating holidays, birthdays, and outdoor picnics. Her strong Baptist faith guided her life and
relationships, shaping her into a woman of deep compassion and generosity.
She cherished her family above all, especially her grandchildren, and extended that same kindness and encouragement to the many students whose lives she touched over the years. Alice Anne will be remembered for her caring spirit, her love for family traditions, and the lasting impact she made on those around her.
Alice Anne was Baptist by Faith.
Pallbearers will be Kale Gosney, Brad Emory, Daniel Wyatt, and Sabry Gomma.
Honorary pallbearers will be Erin Emory, Elizabeth Anne Gomma, Lauren Wyatt, Jae Gosney, Alice Humphrey, Eunice Dunsing, and Darlene Clemens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dover Cemetery or Maple Lawn Nursing Home
