Eagles Send Six Entries to State from Sectional Meet

CENTRALIA, Mo. — Knox County turned in a strong day at the MSHSAA Class 1 Sectional 2 track and field meet Saturday, May 16, at Centralia High School, qualifying six entries for the state meet. The top four finishers in each event advanced. Cooper Clair led the Eagles with sectional championships in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, while Knox County also won the boys 4×100 and 4×200 relays. Adison Strong qualified in the girls long jump, Patrick Clark advanced in the boys high jump and the boys 4×400 relay also earned a state berth with a fourth-place finish.

Clair swept the boys sprints, winning the 100-meter dash in 11.13 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 22.65 seconds. Knox County’s boys relay teams added two more sectional titles, winning the 4×100 relay in 44.39 seconds and the 4×200 relay in 1:31.89.

Clark cleared 1.85 meters to place third in the boys high jump, while the Eagles’ 4×400 relay placed fourth in 3:39.16 to secure the final qualifying spot for state.

On the girls side, Strong placed third in the long jump with a mark of 5.02 meters to advance. Lillie Penn narrowly missed qualifying in the 400-meter dash, placing fifth in 1:05.12.

The MSHSAA Class 1 Sectional 2 meet was hosted by Centralia High School, with timing and results by Montgomery County Timing.
