Highland Girls Win Ninth In Class 2 State Track

Highland placed in seven events at the May 23-24, 2026 Class 2 MSHSAA Track and Field Championships at Jefferson City, Mo. The Lady Cougars scored 23 team points, good for ninth overall in the state.

Senior Chris Gaus competed in the Class 2 boys 100m dash, placing 12th overall in 11.34 seconds.

Senior Bailie Crist placed fifth overall in the Class 2 girl’s Javelin competition with a toss of 125’6”. Senior Chevie Sharpe won the Class 2 Girl’s Bronze medal in the 1600m run. Her time was 5:08.55 seconds.

Cougar junior Porter Peters placed 13th overall in the Class 2 Boys’ 400m dash with a time of 51.67 seconds.

Tyler Seals, Cooper Hinton, Briscoe Post and Porter Peters placed ninth overall in the Class 2 boys 4x400m relay with a time of 3:32.41 seconds.

Senior Chevie Sharpe placed fourth overall in the girls 800m run with a time of 2:19.54 seconds.

Highland’s girls 4x400m relay team of Hannah Ritterbusch, Alayna Logsdon, Eva Logsdon and Chevie Sharpe finished fourth overall in Class 2 with a time of 4:08.29 seconds.

Relay teams and individuals placing in the top eight of State Track and Field events receive medals and are considered All State in Track and Field.
