Schuyler County Commission Minutes

May 18, 2026

The Schuyler County Commission convened in regular session on May 18, 2026, with the following officers and members present:

• Jeremy Lefler, Presiding Commissioner

• Anthony Wilson, Associate Commissioner

• Drew Bruner, Associate Commissioner

• Lisa Small, County Clerk

• Kathy Steen, Deputy County Clerk

• Chris Waddle, Road and Bridge Supervisor

Presiding Commissioner Jeremy Lefler called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

The agenda and minutes from the May 11, 2026 meeting were approved with no additions or corrections. The motion passed 3–0.

Public Comments and Business

Bills were reviewed, signed, and distributed.

Chris Waddle discussed road work being done with the Commissioners.

Sheriff Wuebker stopped in to inform the Commissioners that the dispatch council was struck by lightning. A company is on the way to make repairs.

Darla Campbell met with the Commissioners to let them know the Schuyler County Nutrition Site will be reapplying for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).

Sheriff Wuebker and the Commissioners discussed updating the dispatch council. The Commissioners directed him to obtain an estimate of the associated costs, which they will review and consider. He also informed the Commissioners that, due to a shortage of dispatchers, the jail will need to closed periodically.

Adjournment

Drew Bruner made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 11:59 a.m. Anthony Wilson seconded the motion. The motion passed 3–0.

The Commission will reconvene on May 26, 2026.

May 26, 2026

Presiding Commissioner Jeremy Lefler called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

The agenda and minutes from the May 18, 2026 meeting were approved with no additions or corrections. The motion passed 3–0.

Public Comments and Business

Bills and payroll were reviewed, signed, and distributed.

Tanner Weaver met with the Commissioners to inform them he had purchased property adjoining the county shed and recently had the property surveyed. The survey indicated that a portion of the county shed is located on his property.

Chris Waddle and the Commissioners discussed current road work projects throughout the county.

Derek Weber met with the Commissioners regarding a federal grant opportunity to fund bypasses along Highway 63. He requested a letter of support from the Commission.

Anthony Wilson and Chris Waddle left the meeting to inspect roads.

Sheriff Wuebker met with the Commissioners to discuss the Blue Shield Grant. The grant may be used to purchase equipment or vehicles for the Sheriff’s department.

Adjournment

Drew Bruner made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 11:46 a.m. Jeremy Lefler seconded the motion. The motion passed 2–0.

The Commission will reconvene on June 1, 2026.
