Two Seriously Injured in Hannibal-Area Motorcycle Crash
HANNIBAL — Two Hannibal residents were seriously injured Friday night in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 61 at West Ely Road in Marion County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 7:08 p.m. June 5 when a southbound 2026 CF Moto motorcycle failed to yield to a traffic signal and struck an eastbound 2009 Mercury Milan.
The motorcycle was driven by a 19-year-old Hannibal man. He was seriously injured and transported by Survival Flight to University Hospital in Columbia. A 21-year-old Hannibal woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle also suffered serious injuries and was transported by Survival Flight to University Hospital. The patrol report indicated the driver was wearing a safety device, while the passenger was not.
The driver of the Mercury Milan, a 55-year-old Palmyra woman, was wearing a safety device. No injuries were listed for her in the report.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage. The motorcycle was totaled, and the Mercury Milan had extensive damage. Both vehicles were towed by Heartland Towing of Hannibal.
