Vernon James Meyers, 80, of Palmyra, MO, passed away at 7:57 AM, Friday, June 5, 2026, at his home in Palmyra, MO.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO. Pastor Dewayne Larenson will officiate.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, MO.

Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO.
Vernon was born August 5, 1945, in Emerson, MO, to James Arthur Meyers and Georgia Almeda Maddox Meyers. He was married to Kathleen Malone Meyers, October 5, 1968, in Palmyra, MO. She survives.
Survivors include his children, Angela Meyers Zehnle of Quincy, IL, Pam Booth of Maywood, MO, Robert (Stacey) Meyers of Palmyra, MO, grandchildren, Katlyn (Cody) Stoneburner, Gavin ( Allie) Booth, Preston Meyers, Alyssa Meyers, Matthew Zehnle, great grandchildren, Raelyn Stoneburner, Callie Stoneburner, Bria Booth, Aiden Booth, numerous nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Phyllis Chitwood.
Vernon was a 1964 graduate of Palmyra High School, spent his career as a licensed plumber with Bleigh Construction. Known for his ability to fix anything, he was respected for his skill and strong work ethic.
Vernon was kind-hearted, quick with a one-liner, and never met a stranger. He took special joy in teaching his grandchildren life lessons, including a firm handshake and greeting others with “Hello, Buddy.”
He loved the outdoors, raising hunting dogs and traveling to Tennessee and Indiana for hunting dog shows. He enjoyed hunting deer, raccoon, and squirrel, as well as fishing at Hunnewell Lake and his pond. He was a
member of the MC Saddle Club and had a fondness for Quarter Horses.
In his free time, Vernon collected arrowheads, guns, knives, and pocket watches, enjoyed whittling, watched Westerns—especially John Wayne and Gunsmoke—and listened to classic country music. He also had a sweet
tooth and loved making candy and enjoyed old time hard candy and fudge at Christmas.
He will be remembered for his humor, generosity, and love for family and the outdoors.
Vernon was a Baptist by Faith.
Pallbearers will be Gavin Booth, Preston Meyers, Matthew Zehnle, Cody Stoneburner, Dan Taylor and Zach Burch.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Katlyn Stoneburner, Alyssa Meyers, Allie Booth, Raelyn Stoneburner, Bria Booth, Aiden Booth, Callie Stoneburner, John Thompson, Scott Snodgrass, Monte Burch and Alan Koch.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mel Young at St. Croix Hospice for the compassionate care and kindness she provided to Vernon.
