You Can Travel Through Time On Edina Town Square
By Emilie Rumble
Imagine stepping over the threshold of a building that is more than 100 years old and finding yourself immediately traveling through time. That is exactly what you will do when you walk through the doors of Sparks Retail, which was most recently home to Golden Rose Auction, and traveling further back in time once the home of the Ben Franklin owned by LaVerne and Joyce Dabney, found on the south side of Lafayette Street on the Downtown Square of Edina.
On May 19, 2026, Jesse and Tammy Sparks opened a variety store at that historic site and it is filled nearly to the rafters with antiques that will thrill your collector’s soul! Imagine a vintage Victrola that is in working condition and a Pull and Peddle Child’s tricycle, as well as other pieces of antique furniture.
You will be amazed to find beautiful variety of collectibles, jewelry and purses, children’s toys, dolls, lamps, Circle Y show horse saddles and tack, hats, dishware, fragrant candles and soaps, Willow Tree figurines, a Hummel paperweight collection, pottery, guns, gun case, ammunition, knives, yard décor, signs of various shapes and sizes, paintings, modern furniture, pictures, and new clothing for shoppers walking through the door.
Patrons of Sparks Retail know the owners from attending weekly sales at Sparks Auction Service just down the hill at 204 E. Reid Street in Edina.
The Sparks’ shared that more than a hundred people a week had found their way into the store and to their delight, business is booming. It is their dream, that one day the son will take over the auction business and Jesse and Tammy will retire from boxing and unboxing, lifting, standing, and walking miles and miles at the auction house to running this little house filled with Americana called Sparks Retail.
Sparks Retail located at 308 E. Lafayette Street, Edina, Missouri, is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Jesse and Tammy ask readers, “Come see what we have! There is new inventory every week. You will not be disappointed!”
