Wow what a week of rain we have had this past week, I had a total of 5 ½ inches, rivers are all out, covering crops that were planted. By Friday North River had gone down a bunch but Fabius River was still coming up. I believe that rain is in the forecast for this upcoming week every day, time will tell.
You have wondered why I did not post a column the past 2 weeks, well I was in Germany. I along with my cousin, Marcia Waters went to Germany to visit her son Matt and his family. I had a wonderful time and the weather was absolutely amazing, no hotter than 80 and there is no humidity there. We traveled to Berlin by train one day and seen many of the famous sights,
Deutscher Bundestag, Brandenburger tor, Leipziger Platz, GroBer Stern, just to name a few and beautiful architecture was amazing.
Another day we went to Dresden were again we seen many sights and the most beautiful church I have ever seen in my life, The Ein Ort Voller Leben Church, was magnificent. We visited Lubbenau were we seen another fantastic church, attended a German Festival, watched the men and ladies dance and seen many crafts, foods and drinks made by the traditional German people. It was so fun to watch the men and ladies dance and
everyone there was so friendly. In Lubbenau we also took a boat ride down this river on a Gondola (boat), this was very peaceful and the foliage was amazingly green and the flowers were simply beautiful. We then stopped at a restaurant on the river where I ate my first German meal, Pork Schnitzel with Hollandaise sauce and every meal there is served with some type of potato, it was very tasty. One reason we went to Germany was for Matt’s son
Finley’s Jugendweihe, which is like confirmation/graduation from 8th grade. It was a 2-hour ceremony at the school, it was very nice , however of course they all spoke in German so I had no idea what was being said. Then at the end of the ceremony the song “I had the Time of My Life ” was played and Finley danced with his mom, Katja, and then Grandma Marcia, which was very nice. Then there is a big celebration meal hosted by the parents of the honoree. We helped with the celebration and I was able to meet many of Matt and Katja’s friends and family from there.
These are just a few highlights of my trip; it was an absolutely amazing trip.
Thanks to Palmyra Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring a great Flag Day Parade. It had rained that morning while people were getting their trucks, trailers etc. ready but the rain stopped just in time for the parade to start and it was very nice.
Update on LillyJean, the test results did not come back like the family was hoping. LillyJean tumors are not shrinking and there are more that showed up, also the tumors have now fractured her hip. There is a slight chance they will be looking at going to St Judes for treatment, if the doctors and family are all in agreement. PLEASE PRAY for LillyJean and her family they are in desperate need of all the prayers they can get.
