Wendell was born on February 20, 1941, in rural Clark County, Missouri, and was the only child to his late parents Harley and Helen (Wallingford) Seth. He graduated from Revere High School in 1959 and continued his education at a mechanics technical school in St. Louis, Missouri, where he developed the skills that would serve him throughout his life.

On August 13, 1960, Wendell married the love of his life, LaVona Naplin, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work, raising their three children on the same farm where Wendell was born and raised. That farm remained his home and the foundation of a life devoted to caring for the land and those around him.

Wendell wore many hats throughout his life—owner of the DX Station in Farmington, IA, a farmer, bulldozer operator, mechanic, and carpenter. No matter the task, he believed in leaving everything better than he found it, a lesson he faithfully lived and lovingly passed on to his children. His quiet example of integrity, craftsmanship, and stewardship shaped not only his work but also the lives of those who knew him.

He was an active member of the Farmington Volunteer Firefighters for 33 years, served on the board of the Christy Cemetery Association, and dedicated many years to the Jamboree production in Farmington. Wendell believed in serving his community and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Wendell had a deep love for the outdoors and found great joy in hunting and camping with family and friends. He especially loved animals, with a special place in his heart for his team of Percheron draft horses, which he proudly worked alongside his son.

Perhaps more than anything, Wendell will be remembered for his infectious laughter, warm smile, and kind spirit. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and his sense of humor brought joy wherever he went.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents Harley and Helen Seth; his son, Gary Seth; and his grandson, Quinton Seth.

He is survived by his devoted wife LaVona of 65 years; his daughters, Sandi Drezden of Destin, Florida and Tami (Steve) Kramer of Libertyville Iowa; eight grandchildren; Colbi (Katie) Seth, Cori Seth, Kole Seth, Amanda (Grant) Cushman, Eric (Janelle) Kramer, Kylee (Johnny) Siegel, Anee (Justin) Lampe, Drew (Murphy) Zane; fifteen great-grandchildren; along with many extended family members, neighbors, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Wendell’s legacy lives on in the family he loved, the land he cared for, the community he served, and the countless lives he touched through his generosity, wisdom, and laughter. He leaves behind a world made better because he was here.
