Obituary for Andrea Marie King
Andrea Marie King, 54, of Taylor, MO, passed away at 7:22 PM, Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra, MO. Pastor Wes Gehrke and Pastor Brian Eckhardt will officiate. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in West Ely, MO.
Friends and Family are invited to Andrea’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO.
Andrea was born January 31, 1972, in Hannibal, MO, to Robert E. “Bob” Peiter and Carol Faeth Peiter. She was married to Craig King on July 15, 2000. He survives.
Other survivors include her children, Weston (Karlee) King of Lyons, KS, Candra King (Cameron Jones of Ames, IA) of Taylor, MO, Tracy (Ryan) McAleer of La Vista, NE, Terri (Zach) Miller of Novelty, MO, Chad (Debbie) May of Shawnee, OK, Leslie (Randy) Kerr of Shawnee, OK, Chima Dunga of Davenport, IA, who was like a son to Andrea, grandchildren, Grant, Hannah, Kase, Callen, Rowen, Emlyn, Harris, Rhett and Kallen, brother, Matt (Laura) Peiter of Rocheport, MO, sisters, Robin (Matt) Horstmeier of Palmyra, MO, Carrie Peiter of Columbia, MO, Amy (Tim) Myers of Palmyra, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Andrea was preceded in death by her parents.
Andrea received a master’s degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia. She worked for USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for 31 years, serving as an Area Conservationist managing 30 counties. Andrea was a dedicated Lucky Four 4H Club leader, a strong 4-H advocate, and enjoyed helping youth with sheep showing. Andrea began raising Shropshire sheep at a young age with her siblings attending the Missouri State Fair annually. She continued managing her sheep flock and showing at the Missouri State Fair for the entirety of her life, meeting many lifelong friends along the way. Andrea previously served as the president of the Marion County 4-H Council and was instrumental in implementing the sheep showing events.
Andrea loved her family greatly. She never missed a chance to follow and attend her children’s activities and sporting events. Known for her warm smile, infectious laughter, attention to detail, and selfless nature, Andrea was always encouraging and supportive of others.
She enjoyed attending and cheering on Mizzou Football, and watching Yellowstone and Chicago-based television series.
An avid reader, she enjoyed books by John Grisham and Nicholas Sparks. She loved music, especially George Strait, whom she saw in concert multiple times, as well as classic rock and roll and worship music.
Andrea will be remembered for her strong faith in Jesus, kindness, generosity, love of family, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
Pallbearers will be David Doctorian, Nate Goodrich, Scott Larson, Clint Robey, Diane Bradley-Redden, David Harrison, Mike Snellen and Lucas Brass.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leslie Michael, Mike Squires, Lori Robinson, Rich Crowe, Rhonda Eital, Brian Kruse, Boyd Triplett, Dani Golden, Dan Bockhold, Matt Hollis, Chelsey Beringer, Jason Wolty, Kenny Cody, Grant Phillips, Ashley Johnson, Tim Clapp and Reese Coulter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the 4-H Council or Candra’s College Fund.
