   Viola Willey, age 91, of Shelbina, Missouri died Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Missouri.

   She was born in Newark, MO, on August 19, 1916, the daughter of Emmett Lee and Mary Lottie Hamilton Hall.  On November 10, 1940, she was united in marriage to Russell Willey at Kirksville, MO.  He preceded her in death on December 9, 1997.

   Viola is survived by two sisters, Alma Dee Daniel and her husband John of Shelbina, MO and Marie Clark and her husband Lawrence of Edina, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

   Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; four brothers, Arthur, Lester, Robert, and one in infancy and one sister, Bertha Jean.

   Viola was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shelbina, MO, where she was a member of the Kum Dubl Sunday School Class, serving as a past president.  She also held other offices in the Baptist Women’s Organization.  Viola graduated from Newark High School and attended college at Kirksville State Teacher’s College.  She and her husband farmed in the Kendall and Oak Dale Community for many years before retiring and moving to Shelbina.  She enjoyed needlework, sewing, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

   Funeral services were Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Greening-Eagan- Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, led by Br. Bill Cook.  Music was provided by Edith Rutter and Jim and Kyle Clark.

   Burial was at the Mt. Salem Cemetery near Newark.  Memorials may be made to the Shelbina Senior Citizens Nutrition Site.
