Marion County Holds Lady Tigers In Check

   Strong Marion County defense and second half Brashear foul trouble contributed to the Lady Mustangs taking a 38-24 victory over Brashear (5-2) in December 17, 2007 non-conference action. The home team jumped out to a 7-1 first quarter lead.

   Marion County was able to get the ball inside, and outscored their guests 12-10 during the second quarter. Marion County held a 19-11 halftime lead. The Lady Mustangs were able to hold Brashear to three Caroline Slavin points during the third quarter and led 27-14 after three periods of play.

   Brashear was better able to get their offense untracked during the fourth quarter. Four different Lady Tigers helped expand their team total to 24 points. Marion County was able to sink eight of 11 fourth quarter free throws and took the 38-24 win. Brashear was 8-13 from the foul line. Marion County made 10 of their 25 free throw attempts.

   Jenny Mitchell led all scorers with 11 Lady Mustang points. Marion County’s second leading scorer Skylar Neisen scored all seven of her points during the second period.

   Hailee Kelsey led the Lady Tigers with eight points. Christina Scudder scored six Brashear points. Caroline Slavin put in five BHS points. Stephanie Elsea and Jessi Hill sank two free throws and Emily Ladwig added one Lady Tiger point.
