Highland Sweeps Home CCC Set With Mark Twain

Highland swept a Clarence Cannon Conference basketball doubleheader from Mark Twain on Friday, February 1. Shawna Kriegshauser and Jessica Murfin led the Lady Cougars (9-10, 2-1) with 13 points each in a 44-40 girls’ win. Highland sprang to a 21-14 first quarter lead.
The Lady Cougars extended their halftime edge to 31-22. Mark Twain outscored Highland 18-13 in the second half. Abbie Gaus scored nine points and pulled down 12 Highland boards.
The Cougar boys powered to a 23-7 first quarter lead and never were headed in a 66-30 win. Kyle Ellison led the Cougars with 12 points. Ten of the 11 Cougars dressed for the boys’ game scored. Kris Campbell led the Tigers with 11 points.
