Hubert Samuel King

Hubert Samuel King (Age 90)

Born and raised in Revere, Missouri and died under Hospice care in Alexandria Virginia on October 8, 2008. He was the son of Luke Dunham King and Belle Williams King.

He was preceded in death by his wife Frances “Sancie” E. King and by his four siblings; Lila Laport (Barry), Leona Toops (Robert), Lora Williams (J.B.), and by brother Lester who died before Hubert was born. He is survived by his daughter Mary “Marcie” K. Wolff (Richard); grandson Karl Frederick Wolff; and he was the loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

After ten years serving in the U.S. Navy, he settled in Washington, D.C. where he met and married his wife. They settled in Arlington, Virginia, later settling in Alexandria, Virginia. Hubert was always very proud of his family and where he was from, and through all the years he faithfully visited regularly, bringing his wife and daughter with him after they came into the picture. He always made sure his daughter was aware of his family tree. Having had the railroad as a part of his life growing up, he was a lifelong rail fan; he was a lifetime member of the National Railway Historical Society and was subscribing to train magazines all the way to his death.

His memorial service was October 16 at Goodwin House Alexandria. His interment took place on Saturday, October 18 at Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg, VA where his wife is buried. Memorial contributions may be made to The Veterans of Foreign Wars, 406 West 34th Street, Kansas City, MO 64111.
