1911-2008

Elmer A. Mohr, 97, of Kahoka, formerly of Wyaconda, died Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.
He was born the son of Andrew and Clara (Horn) Mohr in Etna, Missouri on September 15, 1911.

Elmer married the former Myrl Genevieve Suter on February 17, 1935. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2007. She was the love of his life and they were married for 72 years.

After their marriage, the Mohrs farmed near Etna until moving to Wyaconda in the 1960s. Elmer worked for the MFA Elevator and was the long-time caretaker of the Gerth Funeral Home in Wyaconda.

The Mohrs were members of the Wyaconda United Methodist Church.

Elmer enjoyed gardening, but most of all he loved being with, and in their later years, taking care of Myrl.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother, Delbert Mohr.
He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Elder of Kahoka; granddaughter, Lou Ann Odom and husband Gerry of Columbia, MO; great grandsons, Geoffrey, Luke and Patrick Odom of Columbia; two nephews; four nieces; many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Monday, January 19, at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Wyaconda with the Rev. Ernest Deatrick officiating. Geoffrey, Luke and Patrick Odom, Don Dice, Tom Priebe, Kenneth Dieterich and Wesley Knupp served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Wyaconda Cemetery.
