Clark Co. High School Trails Area Schools in DESE’s Annual Performance Report

The Clark County High School trailed Canton, Highland, Scotland County and Knox County in the recently-released 2013 Annual Performance Report from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The School Summary Report shows that for the MSIP 5, Clark County High School earned a 79.6% rating overall. By comparison, Knox County topped the area with a 95.7% average, Canton posted a 90% score, Scotland County had an 88.9% score, and Highland scored 82.9%.

Language Arts was weakest for Clark County, 56.3% of students scoring advanced or proficient.  All the other area schools listed above posted 100% scores in Language Arts.

In Math, Clark County also scored 56.3% advanced or proficient.  Knox Co. had a 100% score, while Scotland County and Highland came in at 75%.  Highland tied Clark County High School’s 56.3% score.

In science, all five schools posted 100% rankings.

In Social Studies, Clark County placed last with 69.6% advanced or proficient.  Knox led the pack with 94.6, followed, with Canton, Highland and Scotland all posting 87.5% scores.

Only 60% of Clark County graduates are college and career ready, according to the report.  Canton and Knox County posted 100% scores, while Scotland Co. scored 75% and Highland scored 60%.

A review of the Annual Performance report is on the agenda of this week’s Clark County R-1 School Board meeting, which will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00pm, at the Administration Building at 427 W. Chestnut in Kahoka.
