Leo Louis “PaPa” Hunolt

Leo Louis “PaPa” Hunolt   Leo Louis “PaPa” Hunolt, 63, of Brashear, Missouri died Saturday, February 1, 2014, at his daughters home in Columbia, Missouri, surrounded by family.

Leo was born on July 24, 1950, in Edina, Missouri, the son of Leo Francis and Georgia Karhoff Hunolt.

He attended Baring Schools before graduating from the Knox County High School in the Class of 1968.

On August 29, 1969 he married Joyce Hettinger and to this union three daughters were born.

On January 15, 1987 he married Nancy Sue Reeves of Brashear, Missouri and became the father of three additional children, his sons.

Leo worked for the Kirksville Auto Auction for a number of years and also the MFA Agri Services. He started “Town and Country Sanitation” in 1992. He later sold to Teters Sanitation of Macon, Missouri; he continued to work with all the different companies, eventually Advanced Disposal, before his health failed. Leo was very devoted to his job and loved his customers very much.

He is a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baring, Missouri and the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.

Leo lived for his family and was the most kind, supportive, and loving husband, dad and papa. He was also an “adoptive papa” to many children over the years that gave him joy and taught a great lesson to those that knew him.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Hunolt of Brashear, Missouri; two sons, Andy and his wife Jill Shahan and Randall and his wife Amie Shahan all of Kirksville, Missouri; two daughters, Amy Hunolt and Demetrius Davis of Columbia, Missouri and Stephanie Hunolt of Brashear, Missouri; brothers, George and Lois Hunolt of Baring, Missouri, Bobby and Sandy Hunolt of Edina, Missouri, and Terry and Theresa Hunolt of Baring, Missouri; sisters, Barbara Rampy of Moberly, Missouri and Lois and Kenny Hunziker of Knox City, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; a special aunt, Ruth Crim of Edina, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Mary Reeves of Brashear, Missouri; extended family of Josh and Jen Goodwin of Brashear, Missouri; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Shana Hunolt; step-son, Todd Shahan; a brother, Dick Hunolt; nephew, Mike Hunolt; niece Shelly Hunolt; brother-in-law, Bob Rampy; sisters-in-law, Patty and Karen Hunolt.

Funeral Services were Friday, February 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.
