Helen Marie Oldfather

Helen Marie Oldfather Helen Marie Oldfather, age 81, of Edina, Missouri died Tuesday, October 28, 2014, in the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.

Born in Knox County, Missouri on January 28, 1933, Helen was the daughter of Francis Marion and Mabel Marguerite (McKenzie) Hayes.

Helen M. McKenzie was united in marriage with Harry Pearl Oldfather on November 10, 1951, in Quincy, IL.  Harry and Helen celebrated 58 years of marriage before he preceded her in death, February 11, 2010.

Her parents, brothers Donald, Charles Richard and Francis Eugene (Gene) Hayes also preceded her in death.

Those surviving are two children, Harry Lee Oldfather and wife Dianna of Edina, MO, and Connie Early and husband Billy of Edina, MO, one brother, Bill Hayes and wife Carol of Knox City, MO, five grandchildren, Misty Miller, and husband Bill, Kelli Beckmann, and husband Kurt, Shelby Oldfather, and special friend Brian Schrage, Melissa Doty, and husband Daryl, and Jeremy Holman, and wife Karie; ten great-grandchildren, Sidney, Brianna and Ava Miller, Madelynn, Jack and Molly Doty, Hannah and Noah Beckmann, Jace and James Holman, three sisters-in-law, Ruth Zuspann and husband, Vernon of Edina, MO, Helen Hayes of Edina, MO, and Helen Hayes of Knox City, MO and several nieces and nephews.

Helen received her education in Knox County, a graduate of Edina High School in 1951.

Harry and Helen lived most of their life south of Edina where they were engaged in farming.

She was employed for several years with Knox County Schools.  Helen was a member of the Edina United Methodist Church.  In her earlier years she and Harry enjoyed motorcycling and camping.  Helen loved cooking, watching birds, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends.

Pastor Sam Smith was officiate for the funeral services held Friday, October 31, 2014, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Visitation was on Thursday, October 30.   Burial was in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, MO.

Music was provided by Chuck Hayes, Shelby Westhoff and Carol Hayes.

Casket bearers were Jeremy Holman, Bill Miller, Brian Schrage, Daryl Doty, Pam Barton and Kurt Beckmann.

Honorary bearers were Albert and Debbie Hagerla, Chucky Barton, Jean Cary, Mike Hayes, Nancy Stice and Billy Hayes.
