Purple Cow In Alexandria Destroyed By Fire

The Purple Cow in Alexandria was destroyed by a late night fire. A fire was reported at the restaurant/bar at about 11:40pm Wednesday night. Firefighters from Alexandria and Wayland fought the blaze in bitter cold and windy conditions.
“Those guys did a great job in terrible conditions,” said Danny Protsman, former owner of the Purple Cow, who lives within sight of the restaurant. “They saved everything they could.”
The business is currently owned by Travis Fox. It was not open at the time of the fire.
Protsman also said he had been out on his deck around 11:20, and saw nothing wrong.
On Thursday morning, several people stood in the cold wind, hugging each other and remembering the good times at the Purple Cow.
“It was a place where friends could meet and have a good time,” one bystander said.
The Missouri Fire Marshal is expected to investigate the scene today.
