Elmer “Al” Garcia, 85, of Wayland, MO died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
He was born February 7, 1931 in Oakley, CA the son of Adrian and Rose Garcia. On December 20, 1975 he was united in marriage to Sydney Harrison in Hamilton, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Jeannine Rose Harrison of Burlington, IA and Heather Marie Queen and her husband Drew of New Hampshire, two sons, Samuel Martin Garcia and his girlfriend Cindy Currey of Lawrence, KS and Richie Garcia of CA, six grandchildren, Kari, Michael, Kelsey, Ryan, Sofie and Madaline, two great-grandchildren, Kaden and Kyson, three sisters, Nancy Garcia of Woodland, CA, Mary Sloan of Oakley, CA and Virgie Peterson of West Sacramento, CA, three brothers, Manuel Garcia of West Sacramento, CA, Henry Garcia and his wife Sandy of Greenfield, MO and George Garcia and his wife Carman of Woodland, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Eddie Garcia, Joe Garcia and Johnnie Garcia.
Al had been a merchant marine and ran oil tankers from California to Alaska.
He had been employed by Amour Dial in Ft. Madison, IA until his retirement in 1993.
Al enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to spend time visiting with his friends and neighbors.
There will be no services.
Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is assisting the family with arrangements.
