Dorothy E. Speer, 88, of Maywood, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Dorothy was born January 10, 1930, in Hannibal, MO, to Homer and Clara Powell.    She was married to Walter Ernest Speer on November 16, 1953, in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2012.

Survivors include 1 Son, Karl F. Speer (Sandy), Durham, MO, 2 Grandchildren, Tracey Lee Dorsey and Rachel Ann Speer, and 1 Sister, Carolyn Shaffer, Quincy, IL. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Dorothy worked as a key operator for Motorola. She also worked as a cook at schools in both Ewing & Durham, as well as working at Casey’s.

She and her husband hosted a fish fry for family and friends on the Fabius River for more than 50 years. Coffee drinkers were always welcome at her house.

 Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Durham United Methodist Church in Durham, MO. Pastor Larry Olson will officiate. Burial will be at Little Union Cemetery in Palmyra, MO. The Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra is in charge of arrangements.

  Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Durham United Methodist Church in Durham, MO.
