Municipal Election Results for Knox County, Missouri, on April 2, 2019

Edina, MO – Tuesday, April 2, 2019 – Representatives of the Knox County Health Department are breathing a sigh of relief following the 2019 Municipal Election.

Knox County voters overwhelmingly approved a tax levy increase, which will allow the health department to continue operations and programs already in place. According to the KCHD Administrator Lori Moots-Clair, the department has not seen a tax levy increase for 44 years.

Countywide, voters sent a strong message of support for the health department casting 780 total votes with 663 of those being “YES” votes to 117 “NO” votes with a margin of 85 percent “YES” to 15 percent “NO”.

The KCHD tax levy will increase from 10 cents to 25 cents per $100 assessed valuation.

Voters in Edina approved a sales tax increase in the amount of one half of one percent for transportation to include things like street repair with a total of 199 “YES” votes to 66 “NO” votes, which is a margin of 75 percent voting “YES” to 25 percent voting “NO”.

A total of 782 ballots were cast countywide out of 2,550 registered voters, which is a turnout of 30.71 percent,  according to information provided by the Knox County Clerk’s Office.
