Knox County Food Cupboard Monthly Commodities Distribution to be Held on Tuesday, May 12th for Drive Through Distribution

By Echo Menges

According to Knox County Food Cupboard (KCFC) Director Gary Clair, the next monthly distribution of food commodities will be on Tuesday, May 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Food Cupboard in Edina.

Food will be delivered on Thursday, May 7, by The Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri and local volunteers will use the weekend to pack food items into bundles, which will ease food distribution for another “drive-through” pickup.

“We are grateful for our Board of Directors and volunteers for all of their help up to this time. Unfortunately, we cannot let as many people work at the distribution as would like to. We are still limiting the number of volunteers who can work because of the pandemic. We are also very grateful for the masks donated to us by the Kathy Greenley, Carol White and the Knox County Health Department,” said Food Cupboard Director Gary Clair.

In April, the Food Cupboard served approximately 212 Knox County families, which is normal and consistent with the usual April distribution.

All Knox County residents are eligible to receive food from the KCFC at no charge. The only requirement is to be a resident of the county.

The KCFC is located on the northwest corner of the South Second Street and East Morgan Street intersection in Edina, south of the Bink’s Fire House and west of the Edina Post Office.
