New Missouri Department of Conservation Agent for Sullivan County

MDC Press Release

Sullivan County, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) would like to welcome Agent Andrea Michelson to the Northeast Region, as the Sullivan County Agent. Michelson will be responsible for enforcing the state’s wildlife regulations, promoting outdoor education, and working with the community to protect and manage Missouri’s natural resources.

Originally from Montgomery County Missouri, Agent Michelson developed a passion for the outdoors at an early age spending much of her time hunting, fishing, and exploring the state’s natural resources. She has long aspired to a career in law enforcement, but it was in the fourth grade that she discovered her true calling. “I met an Agent at Whetstone Conservation Area while I was fishing, and that encounter changed everything,” Michelson said. “He talked about how he was able to spend his days outdoors and make people smile, and that’s when I knew I wanted to become an Agent.”

Michelson brings four years of prior law enforcement experience, having served with both the Montgomery County Jail and the Nodaway County Jail. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in December of 2023 with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Criminology and a minor in Emergency Disaster Management.

Conservation Agent Michelson has a strong background in conservation and public service, said she is honored to serve the citizens of Sullivan County, “I’m excited to continue the Departments mission of protecting Missouri’s fish, forest, and wildlife resources. I look forward to working with landowners, hunters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts to ensure our natural resources are here for future generations.” Agent Michelson is eager to educate the youth, help the local communities and other agencies, and to promote conservation awareness and outdoor safety.

Agent Michelson can be reached at 573-673- 7588 for any questions, wildlife concerns, or to report any violations
