Everett Rice Keith Jr, 73, of Platte City, Missouri, formerly of Memphis, Missouri, has gone to the baseball park in the sky. Endless strikes, hotdogs and beer.
Junior passed away Tuesday evening, November 11, 2025 at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
Everett was born on September 16, 1952, in Bloomfield, Iowa, the son of Everett Rice and Zelda Marie Fowler Keith.
He graduated from the Scotland County High School in the Class of 1970 before continuing his education in Restaurant Management, at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
After college Everett returned to Memphis, Missouri to join his parents at Keith’s Café. In 2009 he moved to Kansas City, Missouri and worked at the Ameristar Casino until he retired in 2014.
Everett was a member of the Memphis Masonic Lodge and received his 50 year pin.
Junior was a lifelong fan of St Louis Cardinal Baseball, that included daily arm chair coaching with Mike Burns and Jeff Strong.
Additionally, he followed Mizzou Sports, NASCAR, horseracing, golf and the Kansas City Chiefs.
He enjoyed craft whiskeys and beer, spent many hours listing to jazz and blues music, traveling, discovering out of the way restaurants and enjoyed local favorites.
Everett is survived by his fiancé, Scarlett Hamilton of Platte City, Missouri; two cats, Orville Wright and Axl Rose; a brother, George and Marla Keith of Medina, Ohio; a sister, Teresa Keith and Ron Boone of Ocala, Florida; nephews, Gregory Keith, Garrett Keith, and Nathan and Dena Spray; and great nephew, Wesley Spray; along with cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Zelda Keith.
A Celebration of Junior’s Life will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2025, with a Masonic Service by Memphis Masonic Lodge, at the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, Missouri.
His family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Greensburg Cemetery in Greensburg, Missouri.
An expression of sympathy in memory of Junior Keith may be left to the Memphis Masonic Lodge. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Memphis Funeral Home, 378 S. Market Street, Memphis, Missouri 63555.
