Richard Dean Gonnerman, age 74, of Hurdland, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, with his wife, Kathy at his side.
Born November 10, 1951, in Edina, Missouri, he was a son of William E. and Cleta Alice Henry Gonnerman. On June 22, 1974, he was united in marriage to Kathy J. Person at the Brashear Community Bible Church in Brashear, Missouri. Rich and Kathy shared fifty-one years of marriage together.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy of Hurdland, MO; daughter, Sarah Gonnerman of Hurdland; two brothers, Curtis Gonnerman and Ann of Sandwich, IL, and William Henry Gonnerman and Deanna of LaPlata; two sisters, Anita Deckard of Excelsior Springs, MO, and Kay Transano and Dr. Eddie Transano of Ava, MO. Aslo survived by Madison and Tanner Gonnerman and their mother, Chelsey Wood of Rudd, IA; and Hunter Griffin of Chillicothe, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Delores Ann “Dottie” Gonnerman Kriegshauser; brothers-in-law, Jerome “Romie” Kriegshauser and Eugene Deckard; and a great nephew, Kolton Gonnerman. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Dorothy Person; brothers-in-law, James Person, Terry Person and Michael Person.
He attended Hurdland Elementary School and graduated from the Knox County High School. In 1973, after graduation form MU, he became an assistant supervisor for FHA in Chillicothe, MO. He worked in various offices with FHA and the USDA throughout the state. Rich became the District Farm Program Specialist and retired after thirty-six years of serving the farming community.
Rich resided on the family century farm raising Angus and Polled Hereford cattle. He was a member of the Brashear Community Bible Church and the NRA. Rich had a dry sense of humor which everyone enjoyed. His best buddies were Snickers, Emma, and Bully, his dogs. Rich specially enjoyed his family, church family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Visitation will begin at noon until the time of services. Services will be provided by Pastor Donny Powell. Music will be provided by Pastor Powell and his wife, LeAnn.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Hurdland, MO. Casket bearers will be Randy Giffith, Dennis Mayer, Kendal Gonnerman, Mike Transano, Daryl Hutcheman, and Brice Simmons. Honorary bearers will be Rex Sykes, Steve Simmons, Robin Gonnerman and James Transano.
