Green City R-1 Earns 89% on State Report, Among Area’s Strongest Performers

GREEN CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has released its 2024-25 Annual Performance Report (APR) for the Green City R-I School District. Green City earned 89 percent of the total points possible, maintaining full accreditation and ranking among the top-performing districts in the region under the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP 6).

The APR evaluates how districts perform in academics, attendance, graduation, and college or career readiness. Green City’s report shows strong results in nearly every category, with student achievement in English, math, and science all exceeding state averages.

In English Language Arts, the district’s mean proficiency index (MPI) was 386.9, compared to the state average of 385.5. About 16.9 percent of students scored below basic, while 44.3 percent were proficient and 21.7 percent advanced. In mathematics, the MPI was 383.8, compared to 373.8 statewide, with 38.8 percent of students proficient and 18.7 percent advanced.

Science and social studies were the district’s highest-performing subjects. The science MPI was 404.8, well above the state average of 377.3, with 34.8 percent proficient and 23.2 percent advanced. In social studies, Green City reported an MPI of 431.0, among the top in the area, showing students performing significantly above state averages.

The district achieved a 100 percent graduation rate, matching or exceeding state performance across all reporting years. Attendance also remained exceptional, with 96 percent of students attending school at least 85 percent of the time, compared to 82.9 percent statewide. Every student has an Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP), and all kindergarten students were screened for school readiness.

Graduate follow-up data showed that 37.5 percent of Green City graduates went on to college and 31.2 percententered the workforce. The district earned a perfect 100 percent in DESE’s “Continuous Improvement” section, which measures leadership, planning, and compliance.

Overall, Green City R-I earned 171 out of 192 points, placing it firmly in DESE’s “on track” category. The report highlights the district’s strong academic performance, excellent attendance, and continued success in preparing students for life after high school.
