Two evenly matched girls basketball teams put on a hard fought but clean battle for supremacy during December 16, 2025 varsity girls non conference basketball at Brashear.
Brashear and Milan remained within a five point differential most of the way. Marian Dabney sank a three ball with three minutes to play in the game then popped two more clutch home run balls helping Milan (4-3) to a 41-39 win.
Marian Dabney poured in a game high 26 Wildcat points. Mya Pauley sank two key third quarter field goals and finished with nine Milan points. Jasmine Cisneros scored four and Taleena Wever added two Milan points.
Brashear had several tall ladies with skills. The Lady Tigers (4-3) took the ball to the lane regularly and effectively. Budding freshman standout Audrey Erwin and all stater Marian Dabney matched up in man to man defense several times.
Heidi Lay and Kennedy Gray are Lady Tiger interior threats every time down the court. Both ladies can handle themselves on the perimeter as well. This was a really good small school early season match up.
Milan took a 10-5 first quarter lead. Maddie Moots put the ball back for a 10 all tie with 5:27 remaining in the second period. Kennedy Gray put Brashear up 14-11 with three minutes showing until intermission.
Marian Dabney evened matters at 14 with a three point shot 55 seconds later. Jasmine Cisneros stole the ball and scored around the two minute mark. Kennedy Gray sank another putback for a 16 all tie heading to the halftime dressing rooms.
Brashear led 29-28 after a closely played third quarter. Kennedy Gray answered a pair of Marian Dabney three balls for a 34-33 Milan lead with 4:40 to play in the game.
Audrey Erwin drove the lane and scored for a 35-34 Tiger lead with 3:40 remaining. Brashear led by a field goal down the stretch when Marian Dabney changed the board with a three ball at the 1:21 mark of the fourth quarter.
Milan led 40-39. The score stayed where it was while Milan was called for a double dribble violation. Brashear missed a tough inside shot with ten seconds to play. Taleena Weaver sank a pressure packed Milan free throw with 7.9 seconds on the clock.
Brashear missed a well defended inside shot. The game ended with Milan holding the 41-39 win.
Brashear pounded home 19 field goals while limiting Milan to six field goals on the night defensively. Milan poured in seven three balls while allowing only two from Brashear. The Lady Wildcats were 8-13 from the free throw line. Brashear went 5-10 from the stripe.
Kennedy Gray led Brashear with 20 points. Heidi Lay scored 14 points. Audrey Erwin put in five points. Maddie Moots added two Brashear points.
