Michael J. Rothweiler, 72, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 4:07 AM, Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Beloved Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hannibal, MO.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra, MO. Fr. Gerald Kaimann will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Palmyra, MO.
Friends and Family are invited to Michael’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra, MO.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO.
Michael was born September 23, 1953, in Hannibal, MO, to Leo Francis “Bud” Rothweiler and Mary Jane Althoff Rothweiler.
Survivors include his siblings, Terry (Joe) Barnes of Palmyra, MO, Jim Rothweiler of Hannibal, MO, Ann Rothweiler of Seattle, WA, Ken Rothweiler of Palmyra, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joe Rothweiler and nephew, Tim Barnes.
Michael attended St. Joseph Catholic School through 1968, where the foundation of his faith was formed and graduated from Palmyra High School in1972.
A true sports fanatic, Michael’s passion for athletics was unmatched. He was a devoted fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Alabama football, and UCLA basketball, while also remaining fiercely loyal to local teams, especially the Palmyra Panther basketball program. Michael possessed an incredible memory for sports statistics, able to recall scores, players, and moments from both current seasons and past. Conversations with Michael always centered around sports.
Michael will be remembered for his enthusiasm, loyalty, and deep love for the games and teams that brought him so much happiness.
Pallbearers will be Jay Conoyer, Sam Murdick, Trevor Conoyer, Eddie Hess, Andy Rothweiler, and David Hastings.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael’s special friends, Craig Spratt, Jim Lowe and Tony Lenzini.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church and Palmyra Sports Booster Club.
