Clark County Man Charged With Child Sex Offenses; $100,000 Cash-Only Bond Set

KAHOKA — A Clark County man is facing multiple felony charges involving a juvenile victim following his arrest Tuesday.

Thomas Scott Murphy has been charged in Clark County Circuit Court in Case No. 26CK-CR00025 with first-degree child molestation, first-degree statutory rape, first-degree statutory sodomy and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

According to court documents filed Feb. 25 by Clark County Prosecutor Joshua Meisner, the alleged offenses occurred between August 2024 and July 2025 in Clark County and involved a victim under the age of 14.

The child molestation charge is a Class A felony, punishable by 10 to 30 years or life imprisonment upon conviction.

A probable cause statement filed by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office states a forensic interview was conducted Feb. 24 involving a 14-year-old female. Following the investigation, Murphy was arrested at his place of employment in Kahoka and transported to the Clark County Jail.

According to the statement, Murphy denied the allegations when interviewed by law enforcement.

Associate Circuit Judge Holly Conger- Koenig issued a $100,000 cash-only warrant Feb. 25, stating in a court order that the defendant is considered a danger to society and to the victim.

All charges are allegations, and Murphy is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
