Free NEMO Sunshine Law Training Set for April 30 in Edina
EDINA, Mo. — A free Missouri Sunshine Law training session will be offered Thursday, April 30, at the Knox County Community Center in Edina.
The training begins at 10 a.m. and will be led by Jay Turner of the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.
The session is open to anyone interested in Missouri’s open meetings and records law, including elected officials, public employees, board members and members of the general public.
Elected officials throughout the region are encouraged to attend, including city councils, school boards, county offices, nursing home and hospital district boards, water district boards, health department boards, emergency service district boards, library boards and any public body
subject to the Sunshine Law.
The training typically lasts 90 minutes to two hours and covers key requirements, recent updates and common compliance issues. No RSVP is required.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring a notepad, as the session is information-heavy.
The training is hosted by the Missouri Sunshine Coalition, the Missouri Attorney General’s Office and the NEMOnews Media Group.
Organizers are asking public bodies to share the opportunity and include it in public meeting agendas to help ensure broader awareness and compliance.
Residents are encouraged to attend and share the information with others who may benefit.
