Sheppard Dominates Hurdles; Palmyra Girls Relay Teams Power Strong Showing At Monroe City Invite

MONROE CITY — Palmyra turned in a well-rounded performance Thursday at the Monroe City Invitational, highlighted by dominant hurdling
from Luke Sheppard and a sweep of sprint relays by the Lady Panthers.
Sheppard was one of the top individual performers on the boys side,winning both the 110-meter hurdles (15.91) and 300 hurdles (41.89), while also clearing 1.85 meters to place second in the high jump. He helped lead a Palmyra boys squad that also saw a relay victory in the 4×200 and a field event win from Kason Augspurg in the javelin (49.97m).
On the girls side, Palmyra’s relay teams set the tone, capturing first-place finishes in both the 4×100 (52.23) and 4×200 (1:52.97), while adding a runner-up finish in the 4×400.
Individually, Leah Pontius led the distance crew with a second-place finish in the 800 (2:31.73), and Tess Lehman added a third-place effort in the 200.
The Panthers also saw strong contributions in the field, with Adyson Dorsey placing fifth in the shot put and Gracie Hammond finishing seventh in the javelin.
