Indians Stay Hot, Run Past South Shelby 14-2
SHELBINA — Clark County continued its strong stretch Thursday, using a fast start and relentless pressure on the bases to roll past South Shelby 14-2.
The Indians wasted no time taking control, plating three runs in the first inning behind a two-run double from Amos Phillips and a South Shelby error. They added another run in the second and kept building from there.
Clark County broke the game open in the third, when Ronan Anderson drove in a run after being hit by a pitch and Mason Davidson followed with a two-run double to push the lead to 7-1.
The offense kept rolling in the fourth as Ryder Howe launched a two-run home run to right field, extending the advantage to 9-2.
The biggest inning came in the fifth.
Clark County scored five runs while showcasing its aggressive base running. Corrick Hunziker highlighted the frame with a two-run home run, while Phillips added another RBI double. The Indians also pulled off multiple steals of home as part of a staggering 17 stolen bases in the game.
At the plate, Clark County finished with 10 hits, with Hunziker, Phillips, Davidson and Howe each collecting two hits. Phillips drove in three runs to lead the attack.
On the mound, Anderson set the tone, allowing just two runs over four innings while striking out six. Amos Phillips closed things out with a dominant inning of relief, striking out three and allowing just one hit.
Defensively, Clark County was clean throughout, committing no errors.
