Kroeger, Compton Lead Palmyra Past Mexico
Logan Kroeger went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs as Palmyra defeated Mexico 9-5 on
Friday, April 24.
The Panthers jumped in front in the bottom of the first when Kroeger singled to score the game’s first run. Palmyra added five more runs in the second inning to take control. Raeson Miller singled in two runs, Kroeger followed with a two-run single, and another run scored on a Mexico error to give the Panthers a 6-0 lead.
Palmyra stretched the lead to 7-0 in the third when Max Heimer reached on a fielder’s
choice, bringing in another run.
Mexico chipped away late, but Palmyra had enough offense and played clean defense to
hold on. Miller earned the win, allowing five runs on 15 hits over 6 1/3 innings. He struck out two and walked two. Rylan Compton came on in relief.
Palmyra collected 13 hits in the win. Kroeger and Compton each had three hits, while Rafe Jones and Heimer added multiple-hit games. The Panthers did not commit an error
and turned one double play. Compton handled a team-high eight chances in the field.
