PALMYRA — Palmyra battled back after an early deficit but could not keep pace with Hannibal in an 11-5 loss Friday.
Hannibal built a 7-0 lead through the top of the third inning, using three home runs to take control. Palmyra answered in the bottom half of the inning when Max Heimer singled and Rylan Compton followed with a two-run home run to left field. Raeson Miller and Logan Kroeger added singles, and Ty Haskins drove in Miller with a base hit to cut the deficit to 7-3.
The Panthers added another run in the fourth when Griffin Scifres walked, moved up on a walk to Henley Snow and a single by Heimer, then scored on Compton’s sacrifice fly.
Palmyra’s final run came in the sixth. Snow singled, Heimer was hit by a pitch and Compton walked to load the bases before Miller delivered an RBI single to left.
Miller led Palmyra at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Compton drove in three runs,
including the two-run homer, while Heimer had two hits. Brodie Webb doubled for the Panthers.
