Robert D. Craig, 77, of Palmyra, MO, passed away at 8:13 PM, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at his home in Palmyra, MO.
There will be no services at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO.
Robert was born March 29, 1949, in Quincy, IL, to Ralph Craig and Nona Edmonson Craig. He was married to Tami Rigney Craig in New London, MO, on February 17, 1979. She survives.
Other survivors include his son, Oliver (Daphne) Craig of Georgia, grandson, Caysen Craig, sister, Linda McGinley of Quincy, IL, brothers, Gary (Jacque) Craig of Palmyra, MO, Philip (Lori) Craig of Stoutsville, MO, brother-in-law, Dave Oenning of Palmyra, MO, nephews, Matthew McGinley, Ryan Craig, Alex Craig, Kyle Craig, Jason Dent, nieces, Erin Schaffer, Kara Craig, Jena Craig and Marla (Jeff) Gilliland.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Rodney Craig and brother-in-law, Mike McGinley.
Robert was a loving, detail oriented man with a deep passion for history. He was a United States Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran, having served as a First Lieutenant in Marine Division Recon. He served as the museum curator at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL and was a lifetime member of the VFW. Though outgoing, he also cherished being at home, especially spending time doing yard work with Tami.
Robert was an accomplished artist who painted American historical murals and created exact replica military miniatures, including tanks, aircraft, and figures. He enjoyed reading war and reference books and also invented multiple toys and toy cars. He will be remembered for his dedication, craftsmanship, and deep respect for history.
Above all else, Robert cherished time spent with his family.
