Knox County Boys Dominate District Relays

Clair sweeps sprints at Class 1 District 3 meet

GLASGOW, Mo. — Cooper Clair powered Knox County’s boys track team with a sprint sweep Saturday, May 9, at the MSHSAA Class 1 District 3 meet at Glasgow High School.

Clair won the boys 100-meter dash in 11.05 seconds and added a district title in the 200-meter dash in 22.19. He was part of a strong Knox County district showing that included three winning boys relays and multiple sectional qualifiers. The top four finishers in each event advanced to sectionals next weekend.

Knox County won the boys 4×100-meter relay in 44.88, the 4×200-meter relay in 1:33.88 and the 4×400-meter relay in 3:41.86. The Eagles also advanced in the 4×800-meter relay, placing third in 8:49.23.

Creighton Karhoff added another sectional berth in the boys 200, finishing third in 24.32. Carrsen Hayes advanced in the 800-meter run with a fourth-place finish in 2:08.16, while Patrick Clark cleared 1.8 meters to place third in the high jump.

On the girls side, Adison Strong led Knox County with a runner-up finish in the long jump at 4.97 meters. Lillie Penn also qualified for sectionals, placing fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.55. Jayla Belknap advanced in the discus with a fourth-place throw of 29.15 meters.
