Kahoka Time Capsule to Be Opened July 4, 2026; Community Invited to Contribute to New 2076 Capsule
The time capsule located at Sever Memorial Library in Kahoka is scheduled to be excavated by the City of Kahoka prior to July 4, 2026.
The capsule will be turned over to the City of Kahoka and the family of Bettie and Frank Evermon for a public celebration. The community event will be held on the east side of the square in Kahoka on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Residents are invited to attend and view the treasures, memories, and historical items preserved within the capsule.
In addition, the Clark County Chamber of Commerce is preparing a new time capsule to be opened on July 4, 2076. The new capsule will be buried during Old Settlers’ Day, allowing the community time to contribute items.
Community members are encouraged to submit small items, photographs, letters, or keepsakes that represent life in Clark County. Donations may be dropped off at Sever Memorial Library by September 4, 2026.
