Draft Stip Lists $14.7 Million In Clark County Highway, Bridge Work
Clark County would see nearly $14.7 million in road and bridge construction work under MoDOT’s draft 2027-2031 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, along with five additional projects listed for scoping or preliminary design.
The draft STIP, which covers fiscal years 2027 through 2031, is available for public review and comment through June 5. Comments may be submitted to MoDOT by calling 1-888-ASK-MODOT or emailing STIPcomments@ modot.mo.gov. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission is expected to consider the final program July 1.
The largest Clark County project in the construction schedule is a $7.614 million U.S. 61 pavement improvement project. The work would run from the Iowa state line to 0.5 mile north of Route B in Lewis County near LaGrange and includes nine disconnected sections. The project also includes southbound and northbound lanes on Route 27 from the Iowa state line to the U.S. 61 interchange. The project, listed as job 2P3353, is scheduled for a 2028 award.
Another U.S. 61 project, listed as job NE0048, calls for $5.201 million in pavement resurfacing. The work includes southbound lanes from Route 27 to 1.2 miles north of Route B in Lewis County near Canton, seven disconnected sections, plus work from the Iowa state line to Route 27 and on Route 27 from north of the Fox River to U.S. 61. That project is scheduled for a December 2026 award.
A third construction project would improve the U.S. 136 bridge over a drainage ditch three miles west of U.S. 61 near Alexandria. The project, involving bridge F0955, is listed at $1.874 million and is scheduled for a 2027 award.
The draft STIP also includes five Clark County projects in the scoping and design section. Those projects are not commitments for construction, but identify potential future work being evaluated or advanced through preliminary design. MoDOT notes that only projects in the construction section represent a commitment to build.
