The Schuyler County FFA chapter has enjoyed a productive season marked by community engagement, leadership development and national recognition.
We are proud to share the following updates from our recent activities.
Our annual fruit sale, held throughout August and September, was a tremendous success. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Schuyler County community. Your continued support of our fundraisers directly enables our members to participate in premier leadership and career development opportunities.
In November, 10 of our members traveled to Indianapolis to attend the 98th National FFA Convention. This event serves as a cornerstone for leadership growth, allowing students to network with peers and industry professionals from across the country.
Agricultural education: Members toured Tuttle Orchards, where they received an in-depth look at pomology (apple production) and the technical process of cider manufacturing. Students noted the value of seeing diverse apple varieties and modern cultivation methods firsthand.
Leadership development: During the general sessions, members heard from keynote speakers on the importance of stepping outside one’s comfort zone to achieve personal and professional growth.
Cultural experiences: The group also attended the Three Hills Rodeo, providing a unique opportunity to experience a different facet of agricultural entertainment and industry traditions.
We are exceptionally proud to announce that on Nov. 1, 2025, member Mariah Buckallew was awarded the American FFA Degree. The American Degree is the highest honor bestowed upon a member, representing the pinnacle of commitment to the FFA and the agricultural industry.
Achieving this degree requires years of dedication, rigorous recordkeeping and significant investment in a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). Our chapter and advisor congratulate Mariah on this prestigious accomplishment and wish her continued success in her future endeavors.
