JERRY WAYNE JONES
1941-2026
Jerry Wayne Jones, 84, of Downing died April 17, 2026 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born the son of Beatrice Owens Holmes on December 5, 1941 in Tupelo, MS.
Jerry was first married to Donna, who preceded him in death. They had two children, Corina and Terry. He later married Sherry Ehlers, with whom he had two children, Corbin and Cassie; On October 15, 2010, he married the former Jeanette Coop at the Gorin Baptist Church, and they shared many years together.
Jerry owned and operated a lawn service for nearly 40 years and also worked in swimming pool service, maintenance and other hands on jobs. He loved tinkering with cars and lawnmowers, fishing, the outdoors, and spending time visiting with family and friends.
He was Christian who was a long-time member of the Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Holmes; sisters, Betty Bailey and Mary Hicks; brother, Thomas Jones; and his in-laws, Jackie and Robert Coop.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; children: Corina (Steve) Ricci of Fresno, CA; Terry (Tammy) Jones of Fresno; Corbin (Stephanie) Jones of Bowie, MD and Cassie Jones of Independence, MO; grandchildren: Tifany Jones of Oklahoma, Toni Jones of Odessa, MO, Sarah Creek of Fresno, and Kira and Alaina Jones, both of Bowie; six great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Davis of Springfield, MO; sister in law, Alisha Coop of Downing; his beloved dogs, Kash and Molly; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 24 at the Gerth Funeral Home. A graveside inurnment service will be at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 25 at the Gorin Cemetery with Rick Addison officiating.
