Hathaway Shines in Hurdles, Javelin; Mustangs Show Balance at Monroe City Invite

MONROE CITY — Marion County turned in a balanced performance Thursday at the Monroe City Invitational, with strong efforts across distance, hurdles and field events leading the way.
Kennedy Hathaway paced the Mustangs with a versatile day, placing sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.61), fifth in the triple jump (9.51m) and finishing third in the javelin (33.17m) for one of the team’s top overall performances. In the distance events, Matty Cunningham led the way with a fifth-place finish in the 1600 (6:51.14) and added a ninth-place run in the 800.
The Mustangs also saw solid contributions in the field, where Alivia Anderson placed eighth in the discus and ninth in the shot put, while the 4×800 relay team added a fourth-place finish.
On the boys side, Averi Williams turned in the top performance with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash (12.17) and added a seventh-place effort in the 200.
